Major Asia Supplier Adds 4th Snack Foods Packaging Line

Client Requirements:

A major Asian food handler, looking to meet the increasing demand for snack foods, expressed a growing need for flexibility to accommodate their product range. They came to Jacob White Packaging to add a fourth packaging line with the following requirements:

• Flexibility for each individual packaging machine to help correlate production demand with market requirements
• Fast and easy size and product changes
• Compliant with current snack food hygiene standards

Our Solution

Following a site visit to understand the company’s current procedures and processes, as well as understanding in detail the solutions they would like to put in place, we were able to install a multi-product, fully automated snack cartoning machine.

These machines use vacuum pick-off and product filling functionality, with continuously moving flighted chains that move the packaging line efficiently, automatically sealing the carton and offering the option of manual intervention if required. This offers greater quality control while increasing efficiency and maintaining mandatory hygiene requirements.

The End Result

Our customer chose the NS-X 5 which offered them a fully automated solution, with interchangeable carton erector, automatic and carefully controlled product placement (including manual intervention option), and carton sealing all in one machine. The changeover points – for size and speed changes – came fitted with a quick release mechanism to offer fast and easy changes with no additional parts required.

This packaging machine also came equipped with a “no carton, no product” reject unit which discards the product outside the guard line of the machine. Made from stainless steel this automated packing machine was perfect for a snack foods environment, where hygiene standards are of the highest importance.
