Jacob White is currently looking to expand our team with the following vacancies:
Packaging Machine Designer
Office-based: Riverside Industrial Estate, Dartford Kent
Summary:
The ideal candidate will have experience working with pneumatics in machine designs and have a good knowledge of Solidworks and PDM.
Jacob White is looking for an experienced designer to work on new and existing packaging machine designs. You will liaise with the sales department, providing technical support and with machine fitters, external suppliers and other designers within the business.
Responsibilities:
- Producing designs for new projects
- Updating designs on existing packaging machines
- Producing drawings for external suppliers, to allow them send quotations when ordering parts
- Answering queries from the machine fitters, during the process of machine and parts manufacture
- Producing sales layouts and technical data sheets for new projects
- Assisting the Sales department with technical visits to clients, for new projects
- Producing machine technical manuals for new projects
Requirements:
- Good knowledge of Solidworks and pdm, and ideally using on a daily basis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Experience in working with pneumatics in machine designs
- Experience designing components to be manufactured using laser and water cut processes would be an advantage
Electrical Technician
Predominantly factory based: Riverside Industrial Estate, Dartford Kent
Some travel may be required within the UK and overseas as the role progresses.
Summary:
The ideal candidate may have some experience but will be willing to learn and progress into the role with guidance and training.
Jacob White is looking for an electrical technician/electrician to join a small team of technicians working on the automation of our standard and bespoke packaging machines.
Responsibilities:
- Work from electrical drawings
- Installation and testing of various optical/electromagnetic sensors, solenoids and other control equipment
- Building electrical control panels
- Electrical sub-assembly
- Preparing and fitting enclosures
- Fitting of cable trays, trunking, conduit and other electrical infrastructure
- Installation of single and three-phase circuits and control wiring to the machines including PLC’s and touch-screen human/machine interface systems
- Electrical fault finding
- Progression to PLC program installation fault finding and machine commissioning in house
Requirements:
- Some experience in a similar role
- Ability to demonstrate basic electrical knowledge
- Good attention to detail
- Able to follow procedures/instructions
- Good communication skills
- Ability to use hand tools competently
- Good housekeeping
Hours and pay:
- 39.00 hours per week
- Working hours Mon–Fri 07:45 – 16:15
- Salary Negotiable dependant on experience and suitability
- Overtime @ 1.5 when available
- 20 days holiday per annum +1 day for each years’ service for the first 5 years
Machine Fitter/Parts Maker
Factory based: Riverside Industrial Estate, Dartford Kent
Summary:
The ideal candidate will have some experience in the production of machinery parts and components and will be able to work as part of a busy team, while managing your own workload.
Jacob White is looking for a machine parts fitter/ parts maker to join our busy team. You will report to the factory manager and production director and have initiative and enthusiasm.
Hours and pay:
- 39.00 hours per week
- Working hours Mon–Fri 07:45 – 16:15
- Mid-morning break and lunch break as specified in your contract of employment
- Responsibilities:
- Production of various types of packaging machinery, including assembly of machines, and production of a range of component parts
- Operate drilling machines, saws, lathes, grinders, and hand tools to make parts from metal stock
- Read technical drawings, in order that parts are made to correct engineering specification
- Read technical assembly drawings to build complete machines from component parts supplied
- Set up machines to run specific configurations of cartons and product
- Test packaging machines once completed, and make necessary adjustments for optimal running
Requirements:
- Experience in a similar role or environment
- Adhere to the Company's Health and Safety procedures and guidance
- Good attention to detail
- Able to follow procedures/instructions
- Good communication skills
- Ability to use hand tools competently
- Good housekeeping
- Willing to learn and progress in the role
