Tissue Box Packaging Machines: future growth opportunities not to be sneezed at

As the global tissue market faces fierce competition, not just between brands and private-label products, but also between retailers, costs and even other product types and categories, time is drawing near for tissue and hygiene product manufacturers to tighten operations and look out for opportunities for growth.

Tissue box packaging machines are today expected to have greater flexibility than ever before, and deliver scalability too, across a wide range of product packaging. Both retailers and manufacturers are facing challenges in pricing, and the rise in private-label and discounters has further intensified the issue.

Innovations in tissue and towel packaging can outweigh pricing

As retailers fight for shelf space and require smaller, more attractive packaging in the aisles, but still on-budget, the manufacturers are competing with widening product ranges and next-generation packaging machines that deliver greater efficiency and boost operational productivity while maintaining and enhancing standards.

Innovative ideas and outside-the-box creativity is proving successful for some industry sectors, but there is always a price ceiling that consumers are willing to accept. Branding carries strong weight in the tissue industry, however, and the US markets noted with interest the introduction of a UK brand – Ora, launched in 2016 – that sold out quickly of initial stocks in Target stores. The English brand was comparatively more expensive but had a clever, unusual format (being round) and super-unique packaging. The resulting success of the brand has demonstrated that price, although important, doesn’t always dictate retail success.
